The New York blackened death metal band, Imperial Crypt, was founded by lead-singer / songwriter Max Edelmann in December of 2009 through the evolution of several other local bands. After writing what would become Imperial Crypt’s initial catalogue of material, Max recruited AJ Sciandra on drums, Chris Donato on guitar and BJ Persampieri on bass.
The group then began recording their debut EP, Demise of the Seventh Realm, is a hard hitting 5-song collection of the band's work thus far, produced by Tom Mis. Released on Friday July 13th, 2012 to international acclaim.
Imperial Crypt continued to tour and perform at major venues across New York City and the metropolitain area with prominent acts including Nile, Alestorm, Vital Remains, Marduk, Kataklysm, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Suffocation, Moonspell, and Inquisition, among many others. However, in the Spring of 2014 the group was forced to disband due to career obligations on the parts of the supporting members. Bent but not broken, Max pushed on writing his next full-length album, and eventually recruited TJ DeVita on rhythm guitar, Cris Leiva on drums, and Zack Breiman on lead guitar, while taking over bass duties himself.
“Being that this band when we were all in high school, I completely understand why the old members had to leave. Big things were and are happening that we all hoped for but never expected. However TJ, Cris, and Zack all have made a serious and professional commitment to this project, and we’re ready to hit the studio harder than ever.” Proclaimed Max.
The band is currently in the process of recording their first full-length album, entitled, “Fate of the All-Father”, set to be released in 2015. The album will be a 10-track, 2-part, concept piece, lending more than a heavy nod to the bands black metal roots.
Starting fresh with talented members, incendiary material, and determination to boot, Imperial Crypt is ready to continue invading the stage, and pillaging all in their path!
