[00:20.78]Well my grandpa fought in World War 2, my uncle fought in Nam.
[00:25.68]My father was too young he went to school and met my mom.
[00:30.70]He heard Dad always told us stories around dinner time.
[00:35.67]And there's one he told when I was young that sticks out in my mind.
[00:40.69]He said ten years after daddy taught me about the birds and bees.
[00:45.61]I was stranded in Pearl Harbor fighting off the Japanese.
[00:50.79]When the kamikaze pilots came and dove in without warning.
[00:55.84]I was on the Arizona on a warm December morning.
[01:00.70]
[01:01.03]I remember when I was a younger man.
[01:06.40]We were soldiers fighting in a foreign land.
[01:13.52]Now I'm older, and it's happening again.
[01:19.82]
[01:24.05]And it was hard to have forgiveness for the things they did that day.
[01:28.75]And our president decided we should make their people pay.
[01:33.82]So we dropped on Nagasaki and we cut 'em down to size.
[01:38.94]And the one we dropped on Hiroshima left them vaporized.
[01:43.78]And I heard some Christians say, what would Jesus do?
[01:49.93]What if you were on the wrong side, would he point the gun at you.
[01:54.88]And they read through every word of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and John
[01:59.91]So they could see if killing was the side that Christ was on.
[02:04.71]
[02:05.02]I remember when I was a younger man.
[02:10.43]We were soldiers fighting in a foreign land.
[02:16.70]Now I'm older, and it's happening again.
[02:23.87]
[02:28.12]And they separate the Church and State and keep God out of schools.
[02:32.85]So our governments can educate based upon their rules.
[02:37.71]The people start to wonder if our politics makes sense.
[02:42.73]When religion is our best excuse for national defence.
[02:47.73]And when our citizens start saying that our wars are not ok.
[02:52.95]And Washington keeps telling them God loves the USA.
[02:58.20]And they teach us history so we can learn from our mistakes.
[03:02.83]And this generation wants to know how many years it takes.
[03:08.01]
[03:08.70]To change the way we treat our neighbors all across the land.
[03:13.19]Cause if we don't change our hearts we repeat the past again.
[03:17.97]
[03:18.29]I remember when I was a younger man.
[03:23.94]We were soldiers fighting in a foreign land.
[03:30.87]Now I'm older, and it's happening again.
[03:37.11]
[04:01.50]My grandpa finished talking we went walking he and I.
[04:06.47]I was thinking about the future and how I was scared to die.
[04:11.50]Now my best friends' over seas in the desert where it's dry.
[04:16.69]Fighting for our country and I need a reason why.
[04:22.03]
[04:23.62]I remember when he was a younger man.
[04:30.70]Now he's a soldier, fighting in foreign land.
[04:38.36]Now were older, God bring him home again.
