雷·戴维斯（Ray Davies）是英国摇滚歌手，同时也是作曲家、指挥家，出生于1944年，全名Raymond Douglas Davies。 《金斯乐团代表作的合唱版》就是雷·戴维斯指挥The Crouch End Festival Chorus合唱团灌录的专辑。收录的全部是根据当年金斯乐团（The Kinks）的代表作改编的合唱版本。 上个世纪60年代最为辉煌的金斯乐团被誉为Brit Pop的鼻祖，而雷·戴维斯正是金斯乐团的主唱和核心人物。1973年雷·戴维斯遇到了瓶颈，6月份自杀未遂，7月份乐队解散，年底又出版了评论极差的专辑《Preservation Act I》，它与随后发行的《Preservation Act II》被评论界认为是胡编滥造、拙劣无比。如今相对于雷·戴维斯的音乐，人们更关注他遭受的枪袭事件。但是在2005年Q音乐奖的颁奖典礼上，雷·戴维斯获得了“杰出歌曲作者奖”。

Raymond Douglas "Ray" Davies, CBE (born 21 June 1944, Fortis Green, London) is an English rock musician, best known as lead singer and songwriter for The Kinks, which he led with his younger brother, Dave. He has also acted, directed and produced shows for theatre and television.

Since the demise of The Kinks in 1996, Ray Davies has embarked on a solo career as a singer-songwriter.
