THE GUYS FROM THE CARAVAN are a new growing folk rock Portuguese band working with some non rock instruments, applying a more folk sound textures in their story telling songs. Happy tunes about everyday not so happy stories. .. .......... .. Formed in early 2007, The Guys from the Caravan’s first recordings were made late at night on their rookie home studio and ended up being released by a Portuguese netlabel and, later, were spotted by one of Portugal’s main broadcast companies, who promoted the band’s first single (and the first ever written song): Guy from the Caravan. .. In late 2007 the band decided to record their debut album, containing 11 songs. Further down the road, in 2008, they were invited to take part on an important compilation of new musical talents promoted by FNAC, selling more than 30.000 copies. Later that year, they were invited to work with a major Portuguese record label, iPlay. .. On October 13th, their debut album is finally released. Its title: “Noah’s Ark of Pain”. .. .. ....How it all happened….... .. .."The journey began in late 2006 when Bruno and Jorge found shelter in an old caravan on one stormy night. Inside there were two guitars and a small collection of funny and interesting instruments. To pass the night they entertained themselves by playing and swapping old tunes they had written through the years. All night long the songs were flowing and they began to write new sounds and new ideas. By dawn, the storm had passed and sun was shining; breaking through the window and forcing beams through the old threadbare curtains. .. .......... .. It was easy to get the caravan started: the keys were in the ignition and fuel tank was full! .. They started driving around, playing in small cafes and rundown bars just to keep the caravan moving. It didn’t take long for them to happen upon a young boy hitting an oil drum with two sticks in gas station. José was his name and drumming was his game! They invited him along for the ride. He had no plans for the next day so he agreed to join them on their journey. .. Later on, they found a wallet on the pavement and decided to hand it into the police station. The guys asked if they knew the owner of the wallet. They said: “Of course we do! It’s a scoundrel named Gonçalo! And you can take him with you if you pay his bail”. They paid bail with the contents of the wallet and left with the newest member of the caravan. They handed him a bass guitar and said: “Learn to play this by the morning. We have gig tomorrow”. ..
