Fresh from a well-received whistle stop UK tour support slot with Kinks front man Ray Davies, Samuel Brookes has released his debut single Breathe Me In / In Weeks on Helium Records. When Samuel and his previous band The Volt triumphed as winners of MTV's 2008 Get Seen Get Heard talent contest, the quality of Samuels' song writing was quickly recognised by the judging panel of music business professionals. Clocking up valuable experience there with studio sessions, live performances and on-line and TV exposure, the band went on to play key London venues and secured slots at last year's Glastonbury Festival. Samuel has since built a strong following in the South West. With all this experience behind him, Samuel is already an accomplished musician and performer with an emerging depth and maturity that increasingly shows in his writing. His finely crafted songs, immaculate phrasing and beautifully modulated delivery reach easily beneath the skin of his audience. The magical space he creates and the elasticity of his writing and playing have the echoes and jazz arches of giants like John Martyn and Tim Buckley who he includes as his influences along with Scott Matthews, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Laura Marling.
