《Slippery When Wet》专辑是 Bon Jovi 的突破之作，更使 Bon Jovi 成为了世界极的巨星。这张专辑是一张不折不扣的流行金属乐专辑，它具备流行金属的所有特点：朗朗上口的旋律、情感内容的歌词、性感的唱腔、明快的节奏以及乐队富于活力的形象。这很大的程度上归功于乐队灵魂人物 Jon Bon Jovi 难以抵挡的个人魅力，他与乐队的吉他手 Richie Sambora 在著名的词曲作者 Desmond Child 的协助下，写出了像“You Give Love A Bad Name”, “Livin’ On A Prayer” 这样的大热门歌曲。专辑最后竟然销售了1300多万张，又创造了摇滚乐史上的又一个神话。不过 Jon Bon Jovi 对《Slippery When Wet》并不满意，认为专辑的准备时间不够，所以炮制出了这么一张“毫无想象力”的专辑，专辑的热销很大程度上归功于 Def Leppard 在1983年推出的那张《Pyromania》所带来的 Heavy Metal 热潮。
