Lui brings a new breed of hiphop that combines nu-jazz hiphop beats with creative Mandarin Chinese lyrics that convey his unique third culture perspective. He currently resides in Los Angeles and has made numerous appearances in local venues. Lui has been actively collaborating with various international artists, from locations such as China, Taiwan, Singapore, Brazil, London and the United States. Lui's distinctive flow and rhyming scheme are attributes that set him apart from other artists in the underground Mandarin Hip-hop scene. Part of an underground Hip-hop group "Bu Ke Kang Li", Lui debuted in the Shanghai hiphop scene with the song "Shangtown Mic Pass," which featured members of "Bu Ke Kang Li" along with other prominent hiphop artists. The group "Bu Ke Kang Li" was created in 2004 while most of the members were a part of Bamboo Crew (Zhu You Ren), a critically-acclaimed underground Hip-hop group based in Shanghai.
