Austin Gibbs was born in Houston, TX in 1986 and spent much of his childhood in Southern California. After a move to Mesa, AZ in 2001, Austin’s passion for singing and songwriting blossomed along with his gift to create music. He began playing live shows with a group of friends and collectively they were known as Austin Gibbs and The States.[1] They released a self-recorded demo in 2007, which housed fan favorites "Vanilla", "Wolf Mountain", and "I Think I Could Love You".
In the spring of 2008, Austin Gibbs and The States won a battle of the bands to perform on the main stage at the Circle K Tempe Music Festival, one of Arizona’s largest music festivals.[2] He took the stage in front of a crowd of 12,000 directly before the headlining act, the Gin Blossoms. Austin Gibbs and the States went on to perform Bamboozle Left with the likes of the All American Rejects, Paramore and Jimmy Eat World.[3]
In the fall of 2008, Austin continued to write music while touring as a member of the band Brighten.[4] In January 2009, Austin recorded his self-titled EP with Bob Hoag (Gin Blossoms, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, The Format, The Ataris) at Flying Blanket Studios in Mesa, AZ.[1] The EP was released in April 2009.
Austin Gibbs is currently represented by Tanner Radcliffe at Eighty One Twenty Three Management. He also spends his free time grooming and cleaning his upper lip hair which he named "El Capitán", or The Captain.
