Pistol Annies is an American country music supergroup composed of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The trio was formed on April 4, 2011 during the Academy of Country Music's broadcast of a "Girls' Night Out" special.[1]
The trio released its debut album, Hell on Heels, on August 23, 2011 via Columbia Records. Ian Drew of Us gave the album three stars, saying "The country trio get spunky on the honky tonk-style ditties".[2] It received four stars from Matt Bjorke of Roughstock, who thought that it had "sassiness and a spark".[3]
Its title track has also been released as both a single and a music video which began airing on Great American Country in July.[4][5]
Karlie Justus of Engine 145 gave the single a "thumbs up", with her review saying, "But beyond its cleverly delivered lyrics and well-framed production, the best part about this initial showcase is the clear intent that seems to drive both the song and the group behind its singers."[6]
