本张专辑是Alicia Keys受MTV音乐台之邀，2005年7月在布鲁克林音乐学院录制的不插电现场演出特辑，被MTV视为“新世代版本的现场演唱”。在这场特别演出中，Alicia Keys以拿手的钢琴演奏，搭配简单乐器伴奏，以最动人的曼妙声音演唱多首惊艳歌坛的个人知名代表作，包括：全数都曾进入排行榜Top10位置的“A Woman’s Worth”、“Diary”、“If I Ain’t Got You”、“You Don’t Know My Name”、“Karma”以及成名之作“Falling”。

然而Alicia Keys在这张现场专辑中带给歌迷的惊喜不仅于此，她还现场演唱了曾经在电台造成轰动，却从未收录在专辑中的“Streets Of New York”，绝对是整场表演高潮之一；Alicia还与自己的同门师弟“Maroon 5”主唱Adam首度合作，对唱了The Rolling Stone乐队1971年的经典作品“Wild Horses”；邀请街头饶舌诗人Mos Def、散发Hip Hop、Soul超凡魅力的Common以及雷鬼教父Bob Marley之子Damian Marley共通演出的“Love It Or Leave It Alone”及“Welcome To Jamrock”等佳作；还有邀请灵魂乐传奇人物Al Green谱写的新歌“Stolen Moments”和最新作品“Unbreakable”，并且Alicia Keys还翻唱了Motown女歌手Brenda Holloway在60年代的名曲“Every Little Bit Hurts”。传承自绝代女伶Aretha Franklin动人灵韵，巧妙融合R&B、Jazz、Hip Hop、Funk等多种音乐元素而成的Neo-Soul乐派，Alicia Keys从演唱、演奏、创作各方面都持续创造着属于自己的传奇故事，以她精湛的“琴韵心声”在新世纪流行音乐史中，写下令人称羡的扉页！

Unplugged is the first live album (third overall) by American R&B/soul singer and pianist Alicia Keys. It was recorded as part of the television program MTV Unplugged on July 4, 2005 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, in Brooklyn, New York City, and released on October 11, 2005 in the United States (see 2005 in music). It debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number one, selling over 245,000 copies worldwide in its first week (196,000 in the U.S.) – the highest debut for an MTV Unplugged album since Nirvana's 1994 MTV Unplugged in New York and the first Unplugged by a female artist to debut at number one. It was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2006, including "Best R&B Album".

The first single released from the album was "Unbreakable", which peaked on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number thirty-four, and number four on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The second single, "Every Little Bit Hurts", was released in January 2006. The video premiered on January 17 on BET's 106 & Park.

This album has been released with the Copy Control protection system in some regions.
